As anyone who has embarked on a journey will tell you, progress takes time but is always worthwhile. Our journey began nearly three decades ago, with a vision for a roller rink.
Small beginnings, big vision
The year was 1990: the era of leotards, leg-warmers, and giant chain-driven Nautilus machines. Back in those days, Napa was behind the curve in the fitness department. Choices were limited, existing facilities were outdated, and people who were truly serious about fitness were largely ignored. The problem was clear, and we knew with our athletic background that we could provide a solution--so we did. That year, HealthQuest was born. Our brand-new fitness center's home was a former roller skating rink (it was the 90's!) with all the basics: weights, cardio equipment, a tiny locker room, and a single fitness classroom. We had a small gym but a big vision.
The vision was simple: a clean space filled with top-notch equipment + a dynamic, motivating team of instructors and trainers + an atmosphere filled with both positive and supportive energy.
This formula was our catalyst for growth.
A new era
As business quickly increased, we outgrew our south Napa location within a few years. In 1995, we relocated to our building on California Boulevard. The building was a blank canvas: just a big empty space with an expansive shaded outdoor area, and it was the perfect place for us to realize our vision. We got to work: we added a second story, enclosed part of the outdoor space, built a second studio, installed two pools, designed spacious and luxurious locker rooms, and enlarged the child care area.
This new era of HealthQuest was one of steady growth. But as the industry evolved in the mid-to-late aughts, we found ourselves with the need to provide our members and guests with more room and more services. This led to the decision to start a top-to-bottom remodel and renovation, which we started in 2010. This took the HealthQuest vision to the next level.
Our massive makeover took two years to finish, and proved to be very well worth it. We added over 13,000 square feet to the building, updated every inch of the existing building, and completely redid the parking lot.
Of course, there was no shortage of obstacles during the transition, but we were committed to staying open the entire time. That meant a lot of tarps, temporary walls, noise, and dust--but it forced us to think on our feet to create an environment in which people could work on themselves while we worked on our environment.
Then, now, always...
Embracing the challenge seems small, but it is fundamentally life-altering. We embrace challenges every day at HealthQuest, whether it is in the yoga studio, on the stationary bike, or in the pool. We consistently achieve and surpass our goals, and our remodel was no different: we modernized and optimized our facility far beyond our expectations, and we remain committed to evolving with the rapidly changing industry.
Every year we bring in new equipment and test new concepts in our fitness classes and training programs. We also aid our trainers and staff members in their pursuit of further education and certifications.
As a locally-owned business, we are proud of our three-decade long history in the community and the reputation we have built, and we are always seeking to improve. We look forward to continuing the journey with you.
