ABOUT SOMA AWAKENING BREATH:

A transformative breath-work practice to supercharge your mind, body, and spirit into a state of passion, flow, and determination. Experience a breathing method that quickly drops you into a deep meditative state, accessing the scientifically proven health benefits of meditation and breath on the brain.

We will utilize numerous ancient yogic pranayama techniques as well as energizing Kundalini Yoga technology.

Breath is a powerful, inner pharmacy for deep healing. A therapy to reduce inflammation, asthma, bronchitis as well as bring your body into an alkaline state, purify the lungs and release toxins. This type of practice can increase your energy, allow you to heal quicker, access more creative states of mind and obtain deeper sleep

Scientific psychology effects show the production of alpha brain waves and reduction of anxiety and depression. It strengthens the nervous system, activates willpower and brings you to this euphoric altered state of mind.

Breathing in a group brings about a collective coherence and the satisfaction of our human craving to deeply connect and be in community.

In closing the practice, you will find yourself in a deep meditative state as we integrate with restorative yoga and stillness in Shavasana.

YOGA TEACHER KAT BIO:

Kathy Stewart, informally known as ‘Kat’, began her fitness career at the age of 17. As a certified fitness and aerobics instructor in 1978, she eventually became the Aerobic Director and manager at La Cancha Fitness Center in Napa, in the early 80’s. Moving to HealthQuest Fitness center in 1990, she continued to teach group fitness and stretch classes. As her personal spiritual journey progressed into meditation, she moved into the depths of Yoga. In 2004, she completed a twelve month Anusara yoga training at Yoga Kula in Berkeley.  Her practice follows the 8-limb path of yoga, which focuses on asana postures, pranayama breathing techniques, concentration of mind and meditation as movement.

Kat holds a Yoga Alliance 200RYT certificate. She continues to expand her knowledge with regular workshops, trainings and retreats.

Her classes incorporate many schools of yoga including Kundalini yoga, Bhakti mantra repetition, Qigong and techniques to remove emotional energy blocks. She teaches all levels of yoga practice with a specialty in Pranayama based Gentle and Restorative Yoga. She also inspires the little ones by teaching yoga in elementary after-school programs. Teaching yoga is a great joy and service in her life. Living yoga and creating a life practice is what she wishes to inspire.
