RESTORATIVE YOGA:

This style of yoga practice is perhaps the most relaxing form of the ancient technology that we currently employ. This practice consists of a series of floor poses supported by the use of cushions, blocks and other props. The poses are held for an extended time to allow the body to passively relax, the mind to calm and tension to float away. Your teacher will help ease you into this mental and physical state with a series of gentle breathing and meditation techniques. You may experience deep physical and emotional release in this practice.

Additionally, studies have confirmed a host of positive benefits associated with the calm and stillness that Restorative yoga promotes. These may include

• Simply acting as a balance to the daily, fast-paced and stress-filled lifestyle that many of us find ourselves in today.

• Enhancement of Flexibility

• Improvement of the body’s natural capacity for healing itself

• Balancing the body’s nervous system and promoting the ‘rest and relax’ aspect of the this part of that system (Sometimes called the ‘rest and digest’ system, the parasympathetic nervous system conserves energy as it slows the heat rate, increases intestinal and gland activity and relaxes the muscles in the gastrointestinal tract.)

• Boosting of the immune system and the body’s ability to ward off infection and disease.

• Development of qualities of compassion and empathy towards others and the self.

• Improving the practitioner’s sleep and ability to fall asleep easily.

• Overall enhancements to the mood and personal state of mind

YOGA TEACHER

JASPER TROUT BIO:

Jasper was born and raised in the western hills of the Napa Valley. As a youngster he spent hours outside his family’s country home hiking the redwood studded hills or splashing in the creek and gathering slimy moss to throw at his sister. With not so subtle encouragement and ample support from his father he participated in nearly every team sport that was offered during his school years and learned the benefit of regular physical activity. Introduced to the ancient practice of yoga on a San Francisco nude beach at the age of 28, Jasper was drawn to yoga’s slow, conscious path toward physical, mental and spiritual integration. The organic, mindful and wholistic perspective on wellness that yoga embodies inspired his desire to know more. He explored the path for several years, practicing with teachers near and far before finally dedicating himself to his first teacher training program and becoming certified to teach in 2011 through YogaTree, San Francisco.

After receiving his 200 hour RYT certification through Yoga Alliance. Jasper has continued his yoga eduction with additional teacher training programs, yoga retreats, seminars and personal study and is currently on the way to his RYT 500 hour certification.

Jasper directs the yoga program at HealthQuest Fitness Center in Napa as well as bringing his personal teaching style and cheesy jokes to schools, studios, client’s homes and even the great outdoors around the Napa Valley. Introducing curious newbies to yoga and helping them to find their own personal practice is one of Jasper’s specialties. From time to time you may hear him say in a class, “Remember… it’s YOUR practice.”

THE MODULAR:

Some say the modular synthesizer is a modern folk instrument. Modular synths came into existence in the 1960’s and 70’s. Synths and drum machines have paved the way to modern music. Clark Harding plays a modular in the Eurorack format. Eurorack modular systems are custom configured by each musician. The system contains a mix of modules which are as individual and varied as each synthesist. Cables are patched from one module into another creating the signal flow and sound. A patch is created and allows elements of improvisation, discovery and sonic exploration. A patch can be somewhat reproduced but is always different and original every time it’s played. It is said that this is the Golden Age for Eurorack and other modular synthesizers. Modern digital modules sit along classic analog ones which allows the modern synthesist to create music which has never been created or heard before. Join Clark Harding in sonic exploration, discovery and the creation of mellifluous music.
