INVERSIONS WORKSHOP WITH KELLY JUNE 11 3PM

Turn that frown upside down (and everything else too!) when you join HQ yoga teacher Kelly for this fun-filled 2 hour workshop all about INVERSIONS! We will begin with a flow to warm up our bodies and fire up the core. Next we will use the wall, props & work in partners to learn and practice crow, forearm stand, headstand & handstand. There will be plenty of time to ask questions and gain knowledge and experience with the steps necessary to gain the many benefits of this family of poses. We will finish our workshop with some grounding yin poses with hands on assists before releasing into a luxurious period of deep relaxation in shavasana.

WHAT ARE SOME BENEFITS OF EXPLORING THE WORLD UPSIDE DOWN?

Reversing the gravitational force that our bodies experience can be one of the most beneficial physical practices available to us. When we enter an inverted posture the body is forced to reassess and reset itself as all the parts that usually pull down toward the feet are now hanging up toward the head. Any yoga pose that results in the head being below the heart is technically an inversion pose. From the restful Viparita Karani (Legs Up-the-Wall pose), the familiar Downward Facing Dog, the oft-visited Uttanasana (forward fold) up to the classic headstand, handstand and scorpion, INVERSION poses get the blood flowing, move the energy and reset the mind!

PLEASE READ: There are certain physical situations in which inverting or spending extended time in an inverted position is contraindicated (not recommended, not advised, not a good idea); these include: pregnancy, chronic high-blood pressure issues (hypertension), glaucoma or recent eye surgery, recovering from head, neck, shoulder or spine injuries, brain injuries and any other conditions which make raising the blood pressure in the head or neck unsafe. As with any new physical activity, questions regarding personal health and safety issues should be directed to your doctor or medical professional.
